The Portuguese Government deeply regrets the loss of almost one hundred lives, including women and children, in a massacre in the village of Sabane-Da, in central Mali, last Sunday.

Portugal strongly condemns the successive acts of terrorism that have been carried out against the Malian civilian population and expresses its solidarity with the relatives of the victims.

The Portuguese Government emphasizes the need for appropriate investigations in order to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.

Portugal also urges the Malian authorities to put more effort towards the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of the many armed groups, while simultaneously investing in the dialogue and reconciliation process with all the signatories of the Peace Agreement.
