The Portuguese Government noted with concern the non-compliance on part of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the obligations regarding the limit set by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) - to which the Republic of Iran remains internationally bound - on its stockpile of enriched uranium. Portugal urges the Republic of Iran to continue to fully comply with the JCPoA.

Portugal notes with concern the resurgence of unilateral gestures on the part of all. These actions compromise a multilateral diplomatic instrument signed in 2015 with the goal of safeguarding global peace and safety.

In the context of an exacerbation of tensions in the Middle East, particularly in the Persian Gulf, the Portuguese Government urges all the stakeholders to preserve the channels of dialogue, calling the parties to refrain from any act which may be seen as hostile. Therefore, Portugal restates its commitment in a concerted effort to appease the current context of regional mistrust and uncertainty, striving to safeguard a multilateral framework for dialogue.
