The Portuguese Government strongly condemns the terrorist attack that occurred last Friday in a mosque in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, where dozens of people lost their lives while uttering their weekly prayers. The day before the terrorist attack, the United Nations had warned that the number of civilian casualties in the country had reached an unprecedented number, in the third quarter of 2019

The Portuguese Government expresses its condolences to the families of the victims, to the Afghan authorities and hopes for a speedy recovery of those injured, restating its full support to all initiatives conducive to lasting peace in Afghanistan and to the stability of the country, reiterating its firm condemnation of terrorism in all its forms.
