Portuguese Communities Council
Established by Law No 66-A/2007 of 11 December, amended and republished by Law No 29/2015 of 16 April, the Portuguese Communities Council (PCC) is the Government's advisory body for policies related to emigration and the Portuguese communities abroad.
Role of the PCC:
Issue opinions, at the request of the Government or the Parliament, on draft bills and draft legislative and administrative acts, as well as international or community regulatory agreements concerning Portuguese communities living abroad.
Evaluate issues raised by the Regional Governments of Azores or Madeira, related to Portuguese communities coming from those autonomous regions.
Produce information and issue opinions, on its own initiative, on all matters relating to Portuguese citizens living abroad and the evolution of the Portuguese presence in the world and share them with the member of Government responsible for the areas of emigration and Portuguese communities abroad.
Make proposals and recommendations on the goals and implementation of the principles of the Portuguese Communities Abroad policy.
